With years of experience providing irrigation services in Central Oregon, we understand the importance of properly installing each component according to regional specifications. Every part of your irrigation system must be installed at the correct depth to prevent damage and ensure easy access for future maintenance or repairs.
- Main shut-off valves should be installed 12 inches below the frost line, typically at a depth of 30 inches, to prevent freezing.
- Backflow prevention devices must be installed to code. They can be placed above or below ground, but no deeper than 24 inches, and must have at least 12 inches of clearance from the floor. If installed underground, the backflow device must remain accessible for maintenance and testing, and be protected from freezing temperatures and potential vandalism.
- Irrigation pipes should be buried at least 8 inches deep (10 to 12 inches recommended) to reduce the risk of freezing or damage from heavy equipment.
- Sprinkler heads should be installed flush with the ground to avoid damage and eliminate tripping hazards.
- Drip irrigation lines may be installed up to 6 inches underground for optimal performance and protection.
